301 Redirect for Dummies WordPress SEO content and URL management using 301 redirect

Did you move your website or web page? Did you decide on a better URL for your blog post? then use 301 redirect! 301 Redirect is a like an address change announced on the google newspaper so that the public and google knows where to direct your traffic!

Say you started with my-awesome-bloooooog.com and you were so successful, and you became known by the nickname mab000g and acquired the domain mab000g.com then you can do a 301 redirect on your old domains o that google knows you have moved!

Maybe you wrote a blog post on WordPress and it's url is blah blah blah /great-dau-on-the-beach. Oops there's a typo, the web page should be /great-day-on-the-beach. Use Wordpress's admin panel build-in 301 redirect.

If you redirect all duplicated pages, channel their all traffic into one canonical webpage, Google's smart algorithm will weigh this page the most and give it the most ranking and traffic, ignoring others as duplicates. This way Google also won't publish you for having too many duplicated contents, and thus avoid the risk of appearing to game the system.

This is a server side modification. Th .htaccess file in Apache server can be modified to govern 301 redirects. PHP developers can use .htaccess file in LAMP WAMP MAMP stacks to make changes. wp-admin of Wordpress has a graphical easy-to-use interface for managing 301 redirects.

Robot.txt file technical seo using the robot exclusion standard to talk to Google Bing search engine crawlers

What is the robot.txt file? It is a file that your developer can generate and leave at the root directory of your site. The robot.txt can give instructions to Google website crawlers on how to properly access and index your site using a protocol and some basic commands called the Robot Exclusion Standard. Why would want Google to exclude your content from its search? Maybe the crawlers are generating too many requests and over burdening your API servers. Maybe you have images or webpages that you'd rather not appear at the top positions in a Google search result. However, these instructions don't prevent other websites from linking to your web pages and do not keep your files secure. It's just some basic instructions to google. It can be helpful when telling Google to avoid certain duplicated pages on your site which Google may otherwise punish you for "trying to game organic keywords and search results". There are many tools that can help web masters or developers generate this file. Use a tool can ensure correct syntax, ease of making robot.txt for different search engines such as Google Bing and Yahoo, conserving time and effort of generating this file correctly.

Apple Stores send employees off with pure thunder! technology startup and company culture

Apple Stores don't make employees stuff belongs into a box and leave in utter shame and silence. They are instead send off with clapping thunder. All retail store employees stop everything they are doing, ignoring all customers, clap loudly in pure standing ovation. They keep applauding and cheering as the employee heads down the cloud stairs that Steve Jobs designed. They won't stop for a solid 5 minutes until the employee exits the door. It's not only a statement to leaving employee. It's also the best example and marketing stunt to the hundreds of people clustered at the store. They all feel like they belong to something special, and Macs, iPhones and iPods have always tried to win by being special.

Design Inspirations from startup space and co-working space

In this downtown startup work space design the designers used fat boy bean bags and an extra wide step tiered staircase to create work spaces where the employees can sit comfortably or even lie down for a nap. This design conserves a lot of space and is a great open space that's not too isolated. It can even be used for standup meetings.

Some cities are experimenting with turning unused, off peak hour museum space into co-working and meeting spaces. May amazing arts inspire creativity for teams.

This blog post talks about amazing inspirations from co-working places in the San Francisco Bay Area - heart of Silicon Valley tech scene:  BESPOKE, HANAHAUS  (Modern Coworking Co-living for Young Tech Professionals in San Francisco Bay Area)

San Francisco Modernist private club offers co-working afternoons with amenities like tea and snacks.

Perhaps the best in the class is Shopify converting valuable downtown office space in San Francisco and Los Angeles to offer a co-working place for merchants. You can mingle and view and purchase products from featured Shopify sellers. Free coffee. Amazing. And the space is beautiful.

Kit Tea cat cafe in SF allows you to bring laptops and smart phones for your hour long paid interaction with their gorgeous and super friendly resident cats. Though they did warn that your productivity may suffer - the cats will be so friendly that they will step on your laptops to grab your attention. That's super cute though.
